In many ways 2007 was a banner year for me. I earned a Master's degree with honors, I lost 50 lbs., I discovered a WOE that helped me lose (and continue to lose) and gives me more energy and stamina than I've ever had. But, it's also the year I fell prey to one of the premiere scam artists of our time. Heidi Kimberly Diaz, aka Kimmer. Now, if you've done any Googling on this subject, you know I am far from alone in falling for Kimmer's lies. Still, it makes me take stock in what I've learned and what I can help others learn from my mistakes.
So, my belated New Year's resolutions are:
1. Keep losing weight, using a sensible low-carb plan. I am following Protein Power Lifeplan and I feel great. Anytime I'm tempted to stray, I'm just going to remind myself that I'm doing something Kimmer has NEVER been able to do, actually lose!
2. Don't spend money for something I can get for free. I can't explain what made me decide to risk $60 to join Kimkins when the plan is available for free. So is the vaunted support Kimmer fraudulently touts on the net. She's facing severe civil charges and very possibly criminal charges for using illegal tactics to promote Kimkins. If I had taken just a bit more time, I would've discovered that what I bought at Kimkins was already available for free elsewhere. I don't recommend anyone try the Kimkins diet because your hair will fall out and you could suffer other health problems! But, if you're determined to give it a shot, save your money and find it for free! Google, friends, Google!
3.Exercise! This was one of the reasons I fell for Kimmer's lies. She promised there's no need to exercise on Kimkins. Well, if you're only eating 500-600 calories a day, you CAN'T exercise. Truthfully, I HATE exercising most of the time. But, guess what? I just need to get over it. I don't have to run 5 miles a day, but some rebounding, dancing, or walking is good for me and I'm just going to do it. (Already started!)
4. Educate myself and others. In 2007 I became a certified teacher. It's something I wish I had done YEARS ago. So, I am committed to keep learning about the low-carb lifestyle, and helping to spread the word about dangerous and unscrupulous diets and the people like Kimmer and some of her former admins who perpetuate 800 calories a day plans. That kind of eating will ruin your metabolism and wreck your health. You need about 1200 calories per day. Do the research and find a free support group to help you on your journey. Low carb friends (LCF) and Eating Low with Amy are excellent support sites.
Good luck everyone and continue to fight the good fight!

You have accomplished SO MUCH! I'm so proud of you. Best wishes in your quest to become a teacher. I'm sure you'll be a great one!
I am encouraging everyone to resolve not to get ripped off by scams like Kimkins!
Stop the fraud! Kimkins members may join the Kimkins lawsuit.
Wow, 2007 was a great year for you! The only thing that seemed to get in your way was the Kimkins' Fraud and lying, liar, that lies- Kimmer.
I have no doubt that you will reach your goals in 2008.
Meeting you and others on the low carb board has been the silver lining to the Kimkins Diet.
